The driver of a car lost control early Friday and crashed through the bay door at a Philadelphia firehouse and into a medic unit.

Philadelphia police said officers were called to the crash at Engine 52, located on Van Kirk Street near Harbison Avenue in the city's Wissinoming section, about 1:50 a.m.

The male driver veered off the road and slammed into the fire station, striking the medic unit inside.

The driver suffered minor injuries in the accident. Both vehicles had significant front end damage.

No other vehicles were involved and no one inside the fire station was hurt.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash to determine why the driver lost control.
