In Gloucester County around 5 a.m. Saturday, a driver struck and killed an unidentified person walking down State Highway 55 in Mantua Township.
The pedestrian died at the scene, according to New Jersey state police. The driver, whose name and vehicle information have not been released, stopped at the scene and waited for police. No criminal charges are pending.
An investigation is ongoing.
In Fishtown, a 24-year-old man was struck and killed Friday night in a hit-and-run accident on the 900 block of North Delaware Avenue, Philadelphia police said.
The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m., when the man stepped off the curb and began running across Delaware Avenue toward The Roxxy nightclub. A black or dark-colored speeding vehicle hit him and did not stop, investigators said.
Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene shortly before 11 p.m. His identity has not been released. -Caitlin McCabe and Alex Wigglesworth
