Cops: DUI driver kills man, 73, on the Boulevard

A motorist was driving under the influence of intoxicants when he hit and killed a 73-year-old pedestrian on Roosevelt Boulevard Saturday evening, police said.

A motorist was driving under the influence of intoxicants when he hit and killed a 73-year-old pedestrian on Roosevelt Boulevard Saturday evening, police said.

The pedestrian, whose name has not been released, was attempting to cross the Boulevard against the traffic light at Faunce Street in Rhawnhurst around 7:45 p.m., police said.

The 40-year-old motorist, who had the green light, struck the man with his 2010 Kia Soul. The driver then pulled over, stayed at the scene and called 9-1-1, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorist, whose identity has not been released by police, was arrested for DUI.
