Mother-to-be, 17, her baby die in Chesco crash

A 17-year-old Downingtown girl who was nine months pregnant was killed in Chester County when the car she was in crashed into an oncoming school bus yesterday afternoon, police said.

A 17-year-old Downingtown girl who was nine months pregnant was killed in Chester County when the car she was in crashed into an oncoming school bus yesterday afternoon, police said.

Nicolette Pomon was sitting in the passenger seat of a westbound 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser when it skidded out of control in the 900 block of Creek Road in East Brandywine Township and smashed into the front of a school bus heading eastbound about 4:40 p.m., police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The baby did not survive.

Meghan Obendorfer, 18, of Downingtown, was driving the PT Cruiser when it fishtailed on the rain-slickened road and slid sideways into the bus. She was listed in stable condition at Reading Hospital.

The driver of the school bus, Steven Dilworth, 38, of Downingtown, was transported to Brandywine Hospital, where he was treated and released. There were no children on the bus. The accident remained under investigation.
