Amtrak service temporarily suspended between Philadelphia and Baltimore

Amtrak train service between Philadelphia and Baltimore has been suspended due to mechanical problems.

According to Amtrak, problems involving the overhead electrical system near Wilmington, Del. have caused a temporary suspension of both Acela and Northeast Regional rail service between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Crews are on the scene and working to make repairs, but as of 11:30 p.m., service hasn't been restored.

Due to extreme cold temperatures forecast across the region, Amtrak will be operating a modified schedule on Tuesday with reduced frequencies on both its Northeast Corridor and Empire Service lines. Passengers are encouraged to check their train status before traveling to the station by calling 800-USA-RAIL or visiting Amtrak.com/alerts.
