Argument leads to shooting in W. Oak Lane

An argument today between two men has left one fighting for his life in the hospital and the other behind bars, police said.

Just before 5 p.m., officers from the 14th District found a 22-year-old man shot once in the back in the driveway of a home on 21st Street near 65th Avenue in West Oak Lane, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

He was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition and is awaiting surgery, Small said.

Not long after the shooting, investigators arrested a 24-year-old man at a nearby home. He was positively identified as the shooter by the victim as well as several people who witnessed the shooting, Small said.

That suspect, whose identity is being withheld pending the approval of his charges, remains in police custody, and the weapon he used in the attack has been recovered.
