Cops: Chair-wielding burglar stole 12-pack of beer from N.J. home

Barbara Webb, 44, of Egg Harbor Township, allegedly threw a lawn chair through a glass door and stole a 12-pack of beer from a unit at the Club at Tilton.

An Egg Harbor Township woman is accused of using a lawn chair to break into a home and steal a 12-pack of beer.

A witness shortly before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday heard a loud bang emanate from a unit at the Club at Tilton, located in the Farmington area, according to a news release from the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.

The witness saw a blonde woman, 12-pack of beer in hand, leave the rear of the home, climb into a vehicle, and speed away, police said.

The woman – later identified as 44-year-old Barbara Webb – allegedly threw a lawn chair through a sliding glass door of the home before sneaking inside and stealing the suds.

Two officers en route to the burglary call saw Webb's vehicle pass them on Hingston Avenue and pulled it over in the lot of Tilton Fitness, police said.

Webb was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft, DWI, and various traffic offenses.

She was imprisoned in the Atlantic County Jail, where she was being held on $25,000 full bail.
