A Bucks County mother went into the house leaving her 4-year-old child outside. When she returned, the mother found the child on the bottom of the family's above ground pool, police said.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning around 11:30 a.m. in the unit block of Crestwood Road in Levittown, police said.

The mother, a registered nurse at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, jumped in to the four-foot-deep pool, pulled her child onto the deck, and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. After several attempts of CPR, the child spit water out and began to cry, police said.

The child was transported to St. Mary Medical Center by ambulance. Police said the child would be airlifted to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for observation.
