Lingering storm effects cause school closings, delays
Bitter cold temperatures that locked yesterday's snow and ice in place are causing many area school districts, including Philadelphia, to cancel classes today.
Suburban districts such as Lerion Merion and Cherry Hill are also closed.
Many others are on two hour delays.
SEPTA is reporting six bus routes that have been suspended as of 5:15 a.m. Up to 30 routes have been detoured. However, rail was operating normally.
Temperatures will continue to have a lingering impact, causing sidewalks and roadways to remain treacherous as any slush has frozen solid. Temperatures reached the low teens in many areas overnight.
On the bright side, the forecast by John Bolaris calls for bright sunshine today.
