BMW suspected in Kensington hit-and-run found by police

A 43-year-old man was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident Thursday night in the city's Kensington section, police said.

Around 7:30 p.m., the victim was hit by a silver four-door vehicle with a sunroof in the 2000 block of East Clearfield Street, police said. He was taken by medics to Hahnemann University Hospital.

The vehicle, which was driven by a white male and had a shattered front windshield, was last seen heading east on Clearfield.

Police on Friday said that officers located a 2000 silver BMW, which matches the description of the hit-and-run vehicle, in a parking lot on the 3000 block of Martha Street, just a few blocks away from the crash scene.

The BMW, which has heavy damage to its driver's-side windshield, was towed away by police for processing. The driver of the vehicle was still unknown, police said.
