N.J. halfway house escapee found dead, naked
The naked body of a Millville, N.J., man who escaped a South Jersey halfway house the day before was found Sunday morning outside a home in Bridgeton.
Investigators said a resident discovered the body of the 35-year-old man in the driveway of a home on the 500 block of South Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. An initial examination didn't reveal any apparent signs of injury, according to authorities.
Police said the man escaped Saturday from the Kintock Group on South Industrial Boulevard in Bridgeton. The residential halfway house is contracted by the state parole board to offer substance abuse and reentry programs to criminal offenders. The man was wearing sweatpants, a sweatshirt and shoes at the time of his escape, according to police.
The man's identity is not being released until his next of kin can be located and notified. The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine his cause of death.
