A police officer was one of two people injured Saturday morning during a car accident in Northeast Philadelphia.

A police officer was one of two people injured Saturday morning during a car accident in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police said the crash happened shortly before 6:30 a.m. on the 9100 block of Academy Road.

The officer, who is assigned to the Traffic Division, was driving a 2013 white Chevrolet east on Academy Road.

At the same time, police said, a 44-year-old woman was driving a 2002 silver Chrysler Concorde north through the driveway of an apartment complex. As the woman exited the driveway onto Academy Road, she allegedly failed to stop.

Police said the officer didn't have time to stop and slammed into the woman's car. Both vehicles were towed.

The officer and the Chrysler driver were taken to Aria Health Torresdale. The officer was treated for a laceration to his leg, while the woman was treated for complaints of pain to her head, neck and arm.

Two passengers in the Chrysler, a 34-year-old man and a 3-year-old girl, were not injured, authorities said.

No charges have yet been filed in connection with the crash. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
