Police: 1 critical, 1 arrest in Wissinoming DUI crash

A DUI crash at Tacony and Van Kirk streets in Wissinoming left a man in critical condition early Sunday, while a second man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.

A 1997 BMW was traveling south on Tacony Street around 1:20 a.m., when it struck a 2005 Honda Civic turning west onto Van Kirk Street from the northbound lanes of Tacony, police said.

The Honda driver, 30, was ejected from his vehicle and rushed to Aria Health Torresdale, where he was hospitalized with head trauma and a broken right leg.

The BMW driver, 51, was also taken to Aria Health for a cut to his left forehead and complaints of pain. DUI charges against him were pending Sunday, police said. His identity was not immediately released.
