Police: Boy, 5, sexually assaulted by dad in Northeast Philadelphia

Police are probing a report of a sexual assault involving a child in the Castor section of Northeast Philadelphia.

The 5-year-old was allegedly assaulted by his 55-year-old father shortly before 2:30 p.m. Saturday inside a home on the 7100 block of Akron Street, according to preliminary police information.

He was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children for evaluation.

No arrest had yet been made Saturday afternoon, and additional information about the circumstances surrounding the incident was not immediately available.

Detectives from the Philadelphia police Special Victims Unit were continuing to investigate.
