Police: Loose wires cause school bus crash on Roosevelt Expressway

A school bus driver was injured on the Roosevelt Expressway when he was struck by loose electrical wires, causing him to crash into a pole near Henry Avenue, police said.

A school bus driver was injured Friday afternoon when he was struck by loose electrical wires, causing him to crash into a pole, police said.

The crash was reported around 1:20 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the Roosevelt Expressway, near Henry Avenue.

The driver told investigators he lost control of the bus after wiring somehow came loose inside the vehicle, hitting his leg.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital for the treatment of second-degree burns, police said. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

The 23 students who were aboard the school bus at the time of the crash were not hurt, according to investigators.

All but one northbound lane of the highway remained closed in the area of the scene, as of 2 p.m.
