Police find car connected to South Philly hit-and-run

Police have found the car involved in a hit-and-run crash at 9th and Oregon in South Philadelphia that severely injured a female pedestrian.

Police say they've located the car involved in a hit-and-run crash that severely injured a female pedestrian in South Philadelphia late Saturday.

Though investigators have also determined the vehicle's registered owner, they haven't found the person who was driving the red Ford Focus east on Oregon Avenue about 11:50 p.m., when it slammed into the pedestrian as she crossed Oregon north at 9th Street.

The woman, 52, suffered internal injuries and major head trauma, including brain bleeding, police said. She was placed in extremely critical condition at Jefferson University Hospital. Her identity was not released.

The Focus fled after the crash, traveling east on Oregon, then south on Columbus Boulevard, police said. The car was later found in Aston, Pa., but police did not disclose exactly where or how the discovery was made.

The investigation remained active and ongoing Sunday. Anyone with information was asked to contact Philadelphia police.
