Police have released surveillance video of an attempted robbery and shooting that occurred Sunday morning and is reminiscent of the movie "Dirty Harry."

Investigators said two brothers, aged 20 and 21, were standing in front of the Bacalao Food Market,  in the 4200 block of Frankford Avenue in Frankford, shortly before noon.

A man armed with an extremely long-barrelled gun approached and demanded the duo give up their property, saying, "empty your pockets," according to police. The gunman can be seen on video waving around the black revolver rather nonchalantly as several cars whiz by.

When one of the brothers pulled out his cell phone, the gunman shot him and ran away. Police said the bullet passed through the victim's hip and exited through his right buttocks. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in good condition.

The suspect was last seen running east on Church Street. He is described as a 5-foot-11-inch tall black male in his early-to-mid-30s with a stocky build. He was last seen wearing a blue suede jacket, a white thermal shirt, jeans, tan boots and a blue hat.

Anyone with information on the suspect or crime is asked to contact the Northeast Detectives Division at 215-686-3153 or 3154, or to submit an anonymous tip by dialing 215-686-TIPS (8477) or texting PPD TIP (773847).
