Woman killed in fiery crash on Roosevelt Boulevard

A 30-year-old woman was killed during a fiery crash on the Roosevelt Boulevard near North Fifth Street.

A 30-year-old woman was killed early Saturday during a fiery crash on the Roosevelt Boulevard.

Police said the woman was driving north in the outer lane of the Boulevard, near Fifth Street, shortly after 2 a.m., when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a tree in the median.

The woman's car burst into flames on impact, trapping her inside, according to investigators.

Medics pronounced her dead on the scene minutes later. No other injuries were reported.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the woman to lose control of the vehicle. Her identity was not being released Saturday, pending notification of her family members.
