The chief of a Burlington County first-aid squad was indicted Thursday on charges of stealing more than $118,000 from his agency, prosecutors said.

Joseph J. Freed III, 54, of the 400 block of North Coles Avenue in Maple Shade, is accused of stealing $118,345.50 between April 2010 and February 2017 from the Maple Shade First Aid Squad.

He allegedly made withdrawals through ATMs from a bank account under his direct control and was the only member of the squad with access to the account. He used the money for personal expenses, prosecutors said.
