Police: Security guard shoots gunman in fatal Philly nightclub shooting
Shots were fired around 4 a.m. at the Alounge Social Club on Macalester Street.
One man is dead and two others wounded after gunfire erupted outside a nightclub in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia early Sunday morning. Among the injured is the alleged gunman, who was shot by a security guard, police said.
Officers responding to a 4 a.m. call reporting a "person with a gun" outside the Alounge Social Club on the 4200 block of Macalester Street found a 37-year-old man lying on the ground with blood on his face and chest, police said. He was taken to an undisclosed hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:22 a.m. A second man, 24, was shot twice in the neck and taken to a hospital by private car and then transferred to a different hospital, police said.
Sgt. Eric Gripp, a police spokesman, said the names of the hospitals are being withheld as the investigation continues.
Police described the gunman as a 27-year-old man, who was then shot multiple times in the left thigh by a security guard. He also was taken to an undisclosed hospital.
The shooting of the 37-year-old and the 24-year-old "stemmed from an argument/fight," police said in a statement issued around noon Sunday. No additional details were available, including whether criminal charges will be filed against the alleged gunman or the security guard.
