Man shot dead at front door in South Philadelphia
The victim answered a knock at the door and was shot at close range by a man who fled on foot, police say.

Police are investigating the slaying of a man shot after answering a knock at the front door of his South Philadelphia home.
The victim, identified Monday as Richard Jackson, 40, opened the door of his home on the 2000 block of South Norwood Street about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. A man then shot him once in the chest at close range, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. Jackson was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he died, officials said.
The gunman fled north on Norwood, Small said. Capt. John Ryan of the Homicide Unit said the shooting apparently stemmed from a dispute between what he called "factions of the same family."
