In a surprise move, Harrise Yaron, president of the Pennsylvania SPCA's board of directors since November 2008, resigned by a letter sent out Sunday night.

Yaron told me yesterday she resigned because "it was time for me to move on."

She denied she was forced out. Board member Jim Penny, an attorney, said any claim Yaron was forced out was "absolutely false."
