A pit bull got loose from a volunteer dog walker in Old City today and attacked a horse.
The dog was being walked by a volunteer with the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, 2nd and Arch streets, at about 2 p.m.
It slipped out of its collar after being frightened by the horse, which was pulling a carriage on 2nd near Christ Church, a PAWS official said.
The dog latched onto the horse's belly before being scared off by the carriage driver, a witness said.
The horse was expected to survive.
