Northeast soccer coach pleads guilty to child-sex charges

Vincent Mickle was 30 years old by the summer of 2007, but that did not stop him from spending hours trying to pick up teenage girls on the Facebook and Myspace social networking sites.

Starting that summer and continuing to March 2010, Mickle made contact with at least six girls between ages 14 and 16.

He had sex with one girl, age 16. His activities with the others included asking for sex, giving them alcohol, receiving from them bare-chested pictures and sending one girl a picture of his penis.

Mickle, now 34, of Teesdale Street in the Northeast, admitted to his assorted online activities and pleaded guilty today to a mountain of charges.

They included unlawful contact with a minor, solicitation to commit statutory sexual assault, corruption of the morals of a minor, solicitation to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and 15 counts of possession of child pornography.

Mickle, a volunteer girls soccer coach and Holy Family University student, could be sent to prison for up to 265 years when he is sentenced on Sept. 19 by Common Pleas Judge Harold Kane.

He has been behind bars unable to make bail since being arrested March 29, 2010.
