Cops seek suspects in burglary at Northern Liberties bar

Police are looking for the men who stole a safe and cash from a Northern Liberties bar.

Philadelphia police said the break-in happened at about 4 a.m. Friday at The Abbaye, 637 N. 3rd St.

Surveillance video shows two burglars forcing a first-floor window open, then taking a lock box and a safe from the bar.

Police initially said the lock box held $15,000. But in a message on its Facebook page this afternoon, The Abbaye said the box "contained a small amount of petty cash" and such large sums of money weren't kept there. Police later said the box had "an undisclosed amount of cash."

The safe was empty.

After the break-in, the suspects fled north on 3rd Street in a white pickup truck, police said.

One suspect is described as a white man in his early- to mid-30s with a thin build and a short beard. He is about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a light-colored baseball cap at the time of the incident.

The other suspect is described as a white man in his early- to mid-30s with a heavy build, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a white sleeveless shirt, blue jean shorts, black sneakers and a baseball cap.
