Pa. Turnpike reopens in Bensalem after crash

Eastbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Route 1 in Bensalem have been reopened after a major crash prompted an hours-long detour.

PennDOT said all lanes reopened shortly before 1 p.m. and cars were no longer being detoured off the highway.

The detour had been in place for much of the morning after the accident, which was reported shortly after 6 a.m.

Footage from television news stations shows that the crash involved multiple tractor-trailers.

For nearly seven hours after the accident, eastbound traffic was diverted off the turnpike between exits 351 in Bensalem and 358 in Bristol.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the incident.
