Police ID woman slain in Kensington hit-and-run

Philadelphia police have identified the woman killed in a hit-and-run crash in Kensington on Christmas Day.

Police said 54-year-old Denise Williams, of the 5400 block of Euclid Street, died after she was run over in the driveway of a Family Dollar store on the 3100 block of Frankford Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Williams had fallen ill and was lying on the ground when a vehicle turned into the driveway and struck her, authorities said.

Witnesses told police that a Hispanic woman in her 40s got out of the driver side of the vehicle, then got back inside the car and fled.

Police described the striking vehicle as a black Dodge Charger.

Emergency responders took Williams to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a few hours later.

Anyone who has information about the crash can call police at 215-685-3180.
