SEPTA plans extra subway service, bus detours for Broad Street Run

SEPTA is planning to run extra subway trains for Sunday's Blue Cross Broad Street Run, but is also warning customers that many bus-route detours will be in place during the race.

The transit agency will run special northbound express trains on the Broad Street Line before the race. The trains will run every 10 minutes from the AT&T Station, located near the finish line, from 5:35 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

The trains will only stop at the Walnut-Locust and City Hall stations en route to the Olney Transporation Center, which is a few blocks from the start.

Run participants can take the Broad Street Line for free to the start of the race by wearing their official race bib.

Dozens of bus routes, however, will face detours during the race due to road closures. The detours will be in place starting at 8 a.m. Sunday.

SEPTA says detours are scheduled for the following routes: 3, 4, 7, 9, 12, 16, 17, 21, 42, 23, 27, 29, 31, 32, 33, 37, 38, 39, 40, 43, 44, 48, 53, 54, 56, 60, 61, 64, 68, 75, 79, 124, 125, G, J, H, XH and R.

Detours will also be in place on the Route 15 Trolley shuttle bus.

Details of the specific changes on each route are available on SEPTA's website.

The agency says regular service will resume as soon as possible after the race ends.
