Millions in federal aid approved for N.J. storm victims
TRENTON - Federal officials have approved nearly $7.6 million in aid to victims of last month's nor'easter in 12 New Jersey counties. The Federal Emergency Management Agency said it had registered more than 9,300 applications for assistance, and inspected nearly 8,400 homes. About $6.9 million has already been disbursed, FEMA officials said.

Individuals and businesses are eligible for aid in Burlington, Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Passaic, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset and Union Counties. In Camden, Gloucester and Mercer Counties, only individuals can apply for aid.
The deadline to apply for FEMA aid is June 26. The agency is operating 12 walk-in assistance centers where people can apply for aid or follow up on an application. To apply, residents may also call 1-800-621-3362 or, for the hearing-impaired, 1-800-462-7585. Applications can also be filed online at www.FEMA.gov.- AP
