Woman, 72, is found slain in group home in Delco

State police are investigating the slaying of a 72-year-old woman who lived in a Delaware County group home.

Margaret Carey was found dead in her bedroom at 5:30 a.m. Saturday. She had last been seen shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, police said.

The Delaware County Coroner's Office determined she had been asphyxiated. No arrests had been made as of last night.

The home is run by Elwyn Inc., a 155-year-old human-services organization that serves disadvantaged and disabled adults and children. Company officials could not be reached for comment yesterday. - Jeff Shields
