A Camden County man was charged with aggravated manslaughter yesterday in the death of a Winslow boy, authorities said. Michael T. Repko, 38, was legally intoxicated May 2 when his car swerved onto the shoulder of Watsontown-New Freedom Road in Winslow and struck Najeeb Al Green-Lewis, 12, said Bill Shralow, spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. The boy, who had been riding an electric scooter, died the next day of internal injuries.
Repko, also of Winslow, did not stop and drove to a remote area, where he allegedly took steps to try to hide the damage to his car, Shralow said. Repko then drove to a bar and took a taxi home. When police arrived to arrest him, he struggled with officers.
Repko is also charged with resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, driving while intoxicated, and leaving the scene of an accident. He has remained at the Camden County jail since his arrest, having failed to post $250,000 bail, Shralow said. - Sam Wood
