A predawn fire yesterday in an outside linen basket caused minor damage at Brandywine Prime, the restaurant formerly known as the Chadds Ford Inn, at Routes 1 and 100 in Chester County.
The original inn was witness to a local piece of the Revolutionary War, the Battle of the Brandywine in September 1777.
The damage was to an outside wall and an upstairs room, assistant manager Kristen Giordano said. The former inn no longer takes guests.
The cause of the fire, which was reported shortly before 4 a.m., was uncertain, she said. The restaurant was open yesterday.- Walter F. Naedele
