Deaths in Camden push homicide rate up by two

Camden logged two more homicides over the weekend, after a man who was shot in November died in the hospital and a woman was found dead on the street. Samuel Bowman, 27, of the 500 block of Royden Street, was shot Nov. 17 while sitting in a Volvo on Kaighns Avenue. He died at Cooper University Hospital on Saturday. Another man in the car also was shot and remains in critical condition at Cooper. His identity is not being released. The men were reportedly in an argument with another party earlier in the evening at A Nice Little Bar on North Broadway. Police are investigating whether the fight was connected to the shootings. On Sunday, Camden police found Dana Marek, 29, of the 1000 block of South Fourth Street, dead from a gunshot wound. Her body was lying on the sidewalk at Royden and Williams Streets. She was the 41st homicide victim in Camden this year. Anyone with information about Bowman's death should call Camden County Prosecutor's Office Senior Investigator John Greer at 856-225-8400. Anyone with information about Marek's death should call Senior Investigator Diane Wilson at the same number or Camden Police Detective Isadore Reyes at 856-757-7420. - Troy Graham
