Police make arrest in Wawa stabbing, robbery

Police yesterday announced the arrest of the man they said held up a Wawa in Northeast Philadelphia at knifepoint, stabbing an employee.

Police said John Capobianco, 36, entered the Wawa at 7715 Frankford Ave. about 4:10 a.m. Monday, paid for a piece of candy, and - with a small knife - stabbed an employee as she opened the register. Capobianco made off with $190, police said. The employee received several stitches in her arm.

Capobianco, whose image police say was captured on the store's surveillance camera, was arrested Wednesday in the 4700 block of Sheffield Street in Holmesburg. He was charged with aggravated assault, robbery and related offenses, police said.
