Sewell man pleads guilty to vehicular homicide

A Sewell man pleaded guilty in Superior Court yesterday to vehicular homicide for killing a Washington Township woman in a 2006 head-on collision.

John T. Davis, 33, of East Holly Avenue, could face nine years in prison at his sentencing, scheduled for Feb. 15.

Davis admitted in court that he had been drinking on the night of the crash, Sept. 3. He left his house around 2 a.m. and began driving the wrong way down the northbound lanes of the Black Horse Pike. Davis then hit a 2000 Honda Civic head-on, killing Bhavna Patel, 59, a passenger in the car. Baldev Patel, 60, the victim's husband, was driving and was injured.
