8 students arrested after fight at Camden High

Eight students were arrested yesterday and classes were dismissed early after a fight at Camden High School, school officials said.

The fight broke out about 11 a.m. in the school's auditorium as several boys argued over a girl, said school spokesman Bart Leff. A number of other students "chimed in," and the altercation spilled out of the auditorium, he said. Police arrived about 15 minutes later and arrested eight students. Two students were treated at local hospitals for cuts and bruises, Leff said.

Classes were dismissed at 1 p.m.

"Even though the problem kids had been removed, we thought it best to get everyone out of the building and home," Leff said. "It will be a new day on Monday."
