Ex-state police leader is charged with DUI

HARRISBURG - The man who served eight years as Pennsylvania's state police commissioner faces drunken-driving charges.

Police in a Harrisburg suburb said Paul Evanko, 60, was arrested Friday night after being involved in a minor traffic accident. His blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, and he was charged with drunken driving, police said.

The charges were first reported by Harrisburg TV station WHTM. Evanko retired as commissioner in 2003.
