Archdiocese releases holiday Mass schedule

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has released its schedule for Christmas Masses at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul.

Cardinal Justin Rigali will be the celebrant for two Christmas Vigil Masses at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Monday, and for the Midnight Mass. The 7:30 p.m. Mass will be preceded by a 7 p.m. performance by the Archdiocesan Boy Choir.

Before the Midnight Mass, there will be a festival of Christmas carols, prelude music, and other sacred choral works performed by the Cathedral Basilica Choir and the Cathedral Basilica Brass Quartet and Timpani beginning at 10:45 p.m. During the Mass, music will be provided by the Cathedral Basilica Choir and the Cathedral Basilica Brass Quartet.

The Christmas Eve and Midnight Masses will be streamed live on the Archdiocesan Web site,

On Christmas Day, Masses will be said at 8 and 10 a.m., and at noon.
