Man, 35, is fatally shot near store in W. Phila.

Detectives were investigating the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man last night near a West Philadelphia convenience store where he had gone to get a soda, police said.

The unidentified victim was shot multiple times in the chest in the 400 block of North 60th Street, said Officer Jillian Russell of the public affairs unit. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead, she said.

The man was thought to have been visiting someone in the area and went to the store to get a soda, Officer B. Paris of the 19th Police District said. He was alone when shot, and police knew of no motive or suspects, Paris said.
