Man is sentenced for York County church vandalism

YORK, Pa. - A judge has sentenced a man to between six and 23 months in jail for vandalizing two York County churches and other properties. Aaron Criswell, 19, of North Hopewell Township, pleaded guilty last month to charges including institutional vandalism, intentional desecration and burglary. The churches were splashed and sprayed with paint, a swastika and other symbols, and anti-Christian messages. At the sentencing Friday, Criswell's attorney said his client was "extremely remorseful." A codefendant has also pleaded guilty to vandalism. Robert Smith III, 23, of York Township, is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 20. - AP
