Man fatally shot in N.E. Phila. home invasion

A 50-year-old man shot during a home invasion in Northeast Philadelphia died yesterday morning of his injuries, police said.

The attack occurred Wednesday night, when five armed men stormed into a third-floor apartment on the 900 block of Riverside Drive about 8:30. Once inside the unit, at the St. Ives Apartments near Northeast Philadelphia Airport, one of the robbers pulled a firearm and fired at one of the three occupants, police said.

Ralph Hibner, of the city's Kensington section, was shot once in the stomach. He stumbled into the hallway, where he was found by police and taken to Frankford Hospital-Torresdale Campus, police said. He died about 2 a.m.

No weapon has been recovered. Initial reports said two teenagers, age 16 and 18, were involved in the home invasion.
