Police investigating fatal Royersford crash

The death of a 16-year-old Collegeville girl in a car crash on Monday night has prompted an investigation, Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said yesterday.

Ferman said Royersford police responded at 7:57 p.m. Monday to a 911 call for an accident in the 400 block of First Avenue. Royersford Police Chief Kevin Schurr said officers found a four-door sedan that had crashed into a trailer next to a parked tractor. He said two of the car's four occupants were ejected from the backseat: the victim and a 19-year-old boy from Linfield.

The victim was pronounced dead at Phoenixville Hospital, Schurr said. The other backseat passenger was flown to Hahnemann University Hospital, where a spokesperson did not return telephone calls.

Schurr said the driver, a 19-year-old Royersford man, and the front-seat passenger, a 16-year-old girl from Royersford, were not injured. He said the participants were not being identified because of their ages. - Kathleen Brady Shea
