Apartment fire displaces 60 in Chester County

About 60 Chester County residents were left homeless yesterday after a two-alarm fire ripped through a Malvern apartment complex and rendered it uninhabitable, authorities said.

Firefighters rushed to the William Henry Apartments shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday and found the blaze spreading rapidly through the 30-unit complex, police said. No injuries were reported.

Approximately 150 firefighters battled the fire on the 1000 block of King Road in East Whiteland Township before placing it under control at 11 p.m., officials said. The American Red Cross was providing emergency lodging and food for the displaced families, police said.
