Gunman in Wal-Mart robbery gets 30 years
A gunman who helped steal $350,000 in a brazen inside robbery at a Crescentville Wal-Mart has been handed a 30-year prison term.
Bilial Shabazz of Philadelphia was sentenced yesterday in federal court for the overnight robbery in December 2006.
Federal prosecutors say Shabazz, 37, and codefendant Christopher Young robbed the store, at 4640 Roosevelt Blvd., while another codefendant, employee Steven Patton, pretended to be a victim and opened the safe. Young is scheduled for sentencing next month; Patton and another codefendant, Bruce Johnson, who authorities say helped plan the robbery, have been sentenced.
