Gunshot victim identified as S.W. Phila. man

Police yesterday released the name of the 29-year-old man gunned down in the Elmwood section of Southwest Philadelphia on Wednesday evening.

Sokoni Meachum was found on the sidewalk in the 2500 block of South 66th Street with several gunshot wounds to the chest shortly before 6 p.m., police said.

Meachum, who lived about a block from where he was shot, was pronounced dead at 6:23 p.m. at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania. No arrests were reported.
