Tabernacle site cleaned up, off Superfund list

Cleanup work is complete at a hazardous-waste site in Burlington County and it has been removed from the federal Superfund list. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the successful cleanup of the Tabernacle Drum Dump Superfund site last week.

The one-acre site was placed on the Superfund list in September 1984. About 200 containers of industrial waste were dumped there between 1977 and 1984. They leaked, contaminating soil and groundwater with solvents, paint sludge and heavy metals.
