SEPTA R3 train hits, kills man in apparent suicide

An inbound R3 SEPTA train struck a male pedestrian about 5 p.m. yesterday near the Morton station in Delaware County, shutting down rail service in the area for over two hours, a SEPTA spokesman said.

The victim, who has not been identified, died at the scene and was an apparent suicide, the spokesman said.

Service to seven stations from Secane to Elwyn was suspended until about 7:15, the spokesman said. About 8,000 people ride the line daily.
