A Berlin man fell into a fountain and drowned after leaving a nightclub in Cherry Hill where he had been celebrating New Year's Eve with friends, authorities said.
David Martinez, 26, was found submerged in a frozen-over fountain at Taylor's about eight hours after he was last seen, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
There were no signs that Martinez's death was anything other than an accident, police said.
Martinez and several friends arrived at the Route 70 bar and restaurant around 9 p.m. New Year's Eve. They had rented a hotel room within walking distance and planned to stay overnight there, according to the Prosecutor's Office.
Martinez left Taylor's about 1 a.m. Thursday. Later that morning, when his friends could not find him, they reported him missing, and authorities searched the area. His body was found around 9 p.m. Thursday in a decorative fountain outside Taylor's.
