I-95 crash victims identified

Delaware state police have identified the four victims, three of whom died, in a collision on I-95 north of Wilmington that closed the southbound lanes for more than four hours Saturday afternoon.

One of the vehicles was driven so aggressively that it used the white dotted line to squeeze between two cars shortly before it careered out of control about 1:30 p.m., State Police Cpl. Bruce Harris reported.

The dead are Lamont Felder, 50, and Lovell Collins-Brown, 47, both of Wilmington, and Anderson M. Davis, 72, of West Philadelphia.

Sallie Hunter, 78, of West Philadelphia, was in critical condition at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del., state police said.

Felder was speeding north in a 1995 Ford Explorer "in an aggressive manner," police said - so much so, witnesses told them, that the Explorer raced between two northbound cars without having a lane of its own.

The Explorer ran onto the right shoulder, went out of control, crossed the grass median, and rolled into the southbound lanes, police said. Felder and Collins-Brown were thrown from the Explorer.

Collins-Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Felder died at Christiana.

The Explorer rolled on top of a southbound 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis, which caught fire, police said. Passersby pulled out the driver, Davis, but his passenger, Hunter, required the help of fire and ambulance crews. Davis died at the scene, police said.
