Federal prosecutors in Philadelphia are charging a man with leading a ring that robbed more than 150 businesses in more than a dozen states after he escaped from prison in 2001.

Federal prosecutors in Philadelphia are charging a man with leading a ring that robbed more than 150 businesses in more than a dozen states after he escaped from prison in 2001.

U.S. Attorney Michael Levy said Scott Allen Hornick, 37, had assembled a gang that broke into camera stores, music stores, pharmacies, and other businesses from Connecticut to Virginia and took the stolen goods to a "fence" in Montgomery County who resold them. Four other people have already been charged.

Hornick, once profiled on America's Most Wanted, escaped from the Warren County Correctional Center in North Jersey on Aug. 6, 2001. He was arrested on a variety of charges in July 2007 in Hartly, Del., and is in custody.

His attorney, John Fioravanti, didn't immediately return a call for comment.
